New Omega Baptist Church Belief Statements

Beliefs

Understanding that a church’s positions must be based on God’s Holy Word as its foundation and as the Scriptures are our only authority in matters of faith, practice and doctrine, we believe:

The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting only of the Old and New Testaments, as being verbally inspired by God, and inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts, are of supreme and final authority (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21). We believe that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us and it is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.

The One True God

We believe in the one living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all confidence and love. We believe that, in the unity of the Godhead, God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Genesis 1:26, Matthew 28:19), equal in divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came into the world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. To this end, He was born of the Virgin Mary, received a human body and a singles human nature without ceasing to be God (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1, 14, 18; Hebrews 4:15; Philippians 2:5-11). We believe that He voluntarily accepted His Father’s will and became the divinely provided sacrificial Lamb, Who took away the sins of the world. We believe that He bodily rose from the grave and is ascended to the right hand of the father, His finished work accepted by the Father There He intercedes and advocates on behalf of the saved (Romans 3:25-31; 2 Corinthians 5:14; Hebrews 10:5-14; John 20:20; Philippians 3:20-21; Hebrews 1:3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-3, 2 Timothy 2:5).

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity dwells in every believer immediately after he places faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and that God providers, through the Holy Spirit, power to live the Christian life (Romans 5:5; 8:1-9; Galatians 5:16-25)

Human Nature

We believe the Scriptures teach that Man was created in holiness under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgressions fell from that holy and happy state. In consequence all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but choice, being by nature utterly void of the holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil and therefore under just condemnation of eternal ruin, without defense or excuse (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12).

Salvation

We believe that, in order to be saved, sinners must be regenerated or born again spiritually, and that the new birth of the believer comes only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe that our redemption has been accomplished wholly by the grace of God, an unmerited gift, given in love by God and not the result of any human works (John 3:17-18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 4:4-5).

The Church

We believe that the church, divinely ordered by God to fulfill His mission in the world by spreading the message of our Lord Jesus Christ and making Him known through the individuals within it. The church, under the Headship of Christ, is expressed in local congregations who regularly meet for fellowship, and through evangelism, are committed to making disciples of all nations, who worship, reach out, care, learn and grow toward Christlikeness (Acts 2:41-47; Hebrews 10:24, 25; Matthew 28:18-19; 2 Corinthians 5:11-21; Ephesians 4:13-16).

Ordinances

We believe in a believer’s baptism by immersion as a symbol of entrance into the body of Christ. It is a public declaration of one’s faith. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic celebration and remembrance of our Lord’s work of salivation. It is an act of worship that sustains one’s faith (Romans 6:1-6; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
